MANILA / METRO MANILA / PHILIPPINES — A Malacañang official on Monday called out Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano for planning to take his complaint against President Rodrigo Duterte to the International Criminal Court.
Alejano so declared after the House of Representatives committee on justice junked his impeachment complaint based on allegations that Duterte ordered extrajudicial killings when he was the mayor of Davao City.
Chief presidential legal counsel Sec. Salvador Panelo advised that Alejano should stop spreading lies against Duterte.
“Tell him to plant trees in his province to protect our environment instead of creating a forest of lies against the President,” he said in a text message to reporters.
The House junked Alejano’s complaint against the President because it was “insufficient in substance.”
Malacañang earlier said that the impeachment rap was meant to undermine the elected President. It also stressed that Duterte did not interfere in the work of the other branches of government.
